Songflight Studio, LLC (“Songflight”) is a website that provides online music lessons using video conference technology. We welcome students of all ages and as such are compliant with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act of 1998 (“COPPA”). We therefore take special precautions when collecting personal information from children under the age of 13.
COPPA requires we inform parents and legal guardians about how Songflight collects, uses, and discloses personal information from children under the age of 13 years of age. Furthermore, COPPA requires we gain consent from parents and/or legal guardians in order for children under the age of 13 years of age to use certain features of our website.
What information is collected from children?
We do not collect personal information from children unless they register on the Songflight website. The only personal information that is collected during the registration process is the student’s name, email address, and the parent’s email address.
Songflight requires a registering user’s age prior to registration. If the user is under the age of 13, he or she is prompted to provide a parent or guardian’s contact information so that Songflight can communicate with the parent or guardian regarding the account.
Songflight does not share user information with third parties, unless stated otherwise or under special circumstances.
How is the information collected used?
Songflight uses the information collected during the registration process to communicate with users and provide services- the information collected is never sold to unaffiliated third parties.
How do we notify and obtain consent from parents regarding their children’s information?
If your child under the age of 13 years attempts to register with the Songflight website, he or she will be prompted to provide his/her parent or guardian’s contact information. Songflight will then contact the parent or guardian to obtain consent. Additionally, by purchasing classes for your child under the age or 13, parents and guardians are consenting to the collection of their child’s information.
What access and rights do parents have?
Parents and guardians have the right to review the information that has been collected from their child. Parents and guardians additionally have the right to withdraw consent of the use or collection of personal information from their child and may request their child’s information be deleted from the Songflight system.
Requests for information or the withdrawal of consent can be made by email by contacting firstname.lastname@example.org.
